CARPENTE is a discreet London architecture and interior design practice dedicated to creating beautiful homes that evoke a deep sense of belonging. Featured here is a selection of our private residential projects, together with an archive of earlier collaborations for luxury brands.
This, our largest residential project to date, began when our client showed us around their 1500 square metre, three-storey mansion set in 40 acres of landscaped grounds and gave us carte blanche to “improve it”.

CARPENTE was appointed to conjoin two flats on the fifth and sixth floors of a Victorian mansion block near Kensington Gardens. The 300 square metre interior and a 50 square metre landscaped roof terrace were remodelled to reflect the lifestyle and aesthetic concerns of the client.

CARPENTE was initially consulted for the kitchen and dining area design of an upcoming timber lodge project in Saanen. However, our involvement grew to encompass refining the traditional chalet-style exterior design and orchestrating the interiors on all four floors of the contemporary interior space.

Born from a longstanding friendship and correspondence between Christophe Carpente and Christian Lacroix, our design for the Christian Lacroix store in Daikanyama was an architectural expression of the fashion designer’s particular way of working with multiple references and overlapping colours and textures.

CARPENTE is proud to have worked with De Beers for 20 years, translating its brand vision to key retail spaces in tactile and meaningful ways. Our latest store concept for the world-renowned jewellery brand was unveiled at its London flagship site on Old Bond Street in November 2021.

Our store design for Bruno Magli helped the company transition from a heritage shoe manufacturer to a luxury fashion brand. Inspired by a Renaissance painting, we created an ambience of intimacy using rare woods, detail-stitched leathers, and silk plissé.

For the refurbishment of its 600 square metre flagship store on Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich, Burberry engaged CARPENTE to act in the role of local architect, providing project and site management, and supporting Burberry’s in-house design team with our architectural expertise.

Cartier appointed CARPENTE to interpret and implement its complex boutique concept across the Cartier network of directly operated stores in historic buildings, and concessions in department stores all over the world.

Our store design for Dunhill was inspired by founder Alfred Dunhill’s spirit of invention, passion for details, and sense of humour. We created a contemporary British men’s club atmosphere with a modern mix of materials, colours, and subtle detailing.

For our Escada store design concept, CARPENTE created a subtle expression of elegance and contemporary luxury. The sparkle of platinum-coated ceramic tiles and metallic mesh contrasted against a backdrop of black gloss and matte finished materials, and rich wood textures.

The power play between rich dark and magnolia-white materials determined the look and feel of CARPENTE’s concept for Hugo Boss Shoes & Accessories stores. This was especially evident in the iconic chessboard-inspired focus wall.

Supporting the luxury makeup brand’s architectural department, CARPENTE interpreted La Prairie‘s store design concept into fully comprehensive technical drawings, enabling the brand to roll out its concept to over 120 stores worldwide.

Nespresso commissioned CARPENTE to create a comprehensive brand retail architecture ‘bible’. The exhaustive technical information and value engineering research collated within enabled Nespresso to implement consistent store design globally with maximum efficiency and to the highest standards.

Our approach to Pandora’s store design is as unique as the jewellery brand’s DNA. We created a visual merchandising concept where most of the products could be displayed openly, allowing clients to touch and try, without compromising security.

Wanting to improve its existing store design’s functionality, durability and performance, Swarovski approached CARPENTE to evolve the concept, bring new solutions, and engineer, project manage and implement the improvements worldwide.
